For Potential Volunteers
The Library welcomes all inquiries about volunteering, and we are grateful for the community’s volunteer support that has helped the Library reach a much larger array of artists, activists, scholars and the generally curious than we two co-founders could ever have done on our own. The Library is considerably volunteer-run, with people in our core community making an incredibly wide array of different contributions to the overall project. The common feature of all volunteer projects is that they arise organically out of people’s personal engagement with the Library. We two co-founders are limited in our ability to develop, train, and assign projects on a regular basis. Rather, the volunteer relationships that have flourished are those in which the prospective volunteer develops their own relationship to both the collection and the Library as a social environment, and develops a proposal for what they would want their own contribution to be.
