Sunday afternoons: 1:30 – 4 p.m. host, Thom Blum’s live sound art performance “The Instrullation” accompanies these unique research hours.

Happy New Year for 2026: Off-hours appointments for out-of-towners may be possible to arrange off-hours. Please send an email to info@prelingerlibrary.org and we’ll attempt to match inquiries with available hosts.

TO FIND US : Use the intercom near the street entrance at 301 8th Street in San Francisco to find a button marked “Prelinger Library.” Press the button to be buzzed in, and take the elevator to the second floor.

Visitors with specific research inquiries in mind are encouraged to send a message to info@prelingerlibrary.org ahead of their visit, to allow librarians to pull materials, or advise on the extent to which the Library’s holdings may or may not address a particular inquiry. Thanks!
