On Quiet Study Days, the door will be open to visitors who arrive without need for orientation or much research assistance. The emphasis on these days will be on co- working time between a library host who is on site to further their own work, and visitors who are able to make use of sharing that time with little assistance. Quiet Study Days are intended to expand access for repeat visitors. Quiet Study Days will always be irregular, since they will be scheduled around the project-based work calendars of the library hosts.
This is only an experiment. Our highest objective (speaking as a co-founder), is to expand public access to the collection as much as possible. This objective is typically inhibited by our own work schedules, as everyone who hosts library hours also works for income. The Quiet Study Days are an experiment to integrate public access into time that is otherwise typically reserved for other uses.
