On Friday, May 31, Lucie Rosenfeld premieres her 25 minute film on local land politics, “There there,” : “Eschewing whitestream narratives of redevelopment, ‘There There’ is a poetic intervention into the popular imagination of the Bay Area written by transplants, tech companies, real estate developers, and YIMBY politicians. Centered around interviews with members of the last generation of Bay Area natives to come up in pre-tech communities, the work asks us to consider the precariousness of home in a place estranged and our responsibility to champion overlooked histories and others in our communities.”
Light refreshments will be offered and the filmmaker, a recent BFA graduate (film) from Hampshire College, will be on hand to discuss her project. The Library supported research on the film.
