In April the library celebrates one year of reopening following the first pandemic year shut-down. We are delighted to announce that the artist Thom Blum will host a month of Sundays with his installation [You Are [Here] You [Are] Here], accompanied by public browsing and research hours:
“[You Are [Here] You [Are] Here] animates the Library through the use of sounds; something you don’t generally expect or want in a typical library. But the sounds are infrequent and for the most part quiet and fleeting. While barely audible they nevertheless reference and call attention to the Library’s particular holdings of ephemera, knowledge, and artifacts. At times it becomes a sonic treasure hunt. It aims to pique the visitor’s curiosity and to enhance or transform the visitor’s experience of the stacks.” Visit Thom Blum’s site for more about this artist’s works.
